188C Significant lnvestor Stream (Significant lnvestor Stream), also known as 188C investment immigrant visa, is one of the 188 visa categories for Australian business immigrants. It is suitable for applicants who are willing to invest at least 5 million Australian dollars in a major investment in Australia that meets the requirements and who want to maintain business and investment activities in Australia. Applicants need to be nominated by an Australian state or territory government or Austrade nominated by the Australian Trade Commission on behalf of the Australian government. Holding a 188 visa is the first stage of qualifying for the Business Innovation and Investment (Permanent) visa (888 visa). The visa is valid for four years and three months. After July 1, 2021, the visa validity period will be adjusted to 5 years. 188C visa application conditions

● Be nominated by a qualified government agency and invited to apply
● The applicant and all family members meet certain health and character requirements

● The rules in force at the time of application for the Significant Investor Visa will continue to apply for the duration of the provisional visa, including any extensions related to this visa
● The inviter must have a real and achievable commitment to:
1. Live in the nominated state or territory;
2. Continue to carry out business and investment activities in Australia after the temporary visa expires
3. While holding a temporary visa, the applicant must live in Australia for at least 40 days per year (cumulative calculation), or his or her spouse must live in Australia for at least 180 days per year (cumulative calculation).
● The applicant, the applicant’s partner or the applicant and their partner jointly have a net asset of at least AUD 5 million, which is legally obtained and disposable and can be used to make qualified investments in Australia
● The applicant and her partner have participated in unacceptable business or investment activities
● Applicants and family members over the age of 18 must agree not to take any action against the federal government for any losses related to qualified investments
● According to Australian tax law, income earned from designated investments in Australia is subject to tax.

● Compliant major investment applications after July 1, 2021:
Make a significant investment of A$5 million over four years in the following companies:
1. Venture capital and growth private equity funds investing at least AU$1 million in start-ups and small private companies (before July 1, 2021, this investment amount is AU$500,000)
2. Approved managed funds investing at least AUD 1.5 million in emerging companies listed on the ASX
3. Make a balanced investment of up to A$2.5 million in a managed fund that may invest in a range of assets (including ASX-listed companies, Australian corporate bonds or notes, annuities and commercial real estate) (the amount invested before 1 July 2021 is 3 million Australian dollars)
● Compliant major investment applications before July 1, 2015:
A major investment of A$5 million over four years in the following projects:
● Commonwealth, state or territory government bonds
● Qualified managed funds – restricted to investing in any or all of the Australian assets listed below
1. Australian infrastructure projects;
2. Liquidity held by Australian depository institutions
3. Bonds issued by the federal government, state or territory governments
4. Debentures, equity, hybrid debt or other corporate debt of companies and trusts listed on the ASX or expected to be listed within 12 months
5. Bonds or time deposits issued by Australian financial institutions
6. Real Estate in Creek Talia
7. Agribusiness in Australia
8. Annuity issued by an Australian registered life insurance company pursuant to Section 9 or Section 12A of the Life Insurance Act 1995
9. Mortgage secured loans beyond the above investment
10. Derivatives used for securities portfolio management and non-speculative purposes shall not exceed 20% of the total value of the managed funds;
11. Other custodian funds used for the above investments
● Invest directly in an Australian private enterprise in which the applicant has an ownership interest. If the applicant intends to apply for and meet the requirements of the Business Innovation and Investment (Long-term) (888 visa) visa, the company needs to operate a qualifying business.

888C Significant Investor Permanent Residence Visa

After the applicant is approved for the 188C visa, the applicant can transfer to the 888C major investor permanent residence visa after maintaining the designated investment of 5 million Australian dollars for four years and meeting certain living conditions.
